May 2, 1939 -November 3, 2016Lyle W. Whisennand, a longtime resident of Anacortes, WA, passed away on November 3, 2016, at Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon.Lyle was born on May 2, 1939, in Glasgow, Montana to Wanda and Bill Whisennand.He was raised on the family ranch where he rode his horse, mending the fence lines. The horse was also his transportation to elementary school. As a young man he was awarded a championship bull riding buckle which he proudly wore all his life.Lyle settled in Anacortes with his late devoted wife, DeAnna, in the early 1970's. He worked for Whitney Fidalgo Seafoods in both Anacortes and Alaska. Lyle also worked as a machinist with Anacortes Refineries for many years.His lifelong love was salmon fishing on his boat in the San Juan Islands and became well known of his special smoked salmon recipe. Another passion, which brought joy to Lyle's heart, was playing his guitar and singing classic country music, both professionally and to his family and friends. He also performed at the Anacortes Eagles and Elks where he was a life member.Lyle will be remembered for his giving spirit and generosity to friends.Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Fran McDowell; a brother, Jerry Whisennand; a sister, Lila Kulczyk; and children, Lyle, Jr., Rita, Tony, and Lea; also by numerous grandchildren, nephews and nieces. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mira Vista for their compassionate support to Lyle and his family.There will be no formal service. At a later date there will be a family gathering to remember Lyle.
