Gere, M. DorinthaM. Dorintha "Dinny" (Crisfield) Gere died peacefully at her home in Romulus, NY surrounded by her family on November 3rd at the age of 93.She was preceded in death by her husband Howard to whom she was married to for 53 years as well as her five siblings Abrham, Floyd, Mary, Susan and Louise, sisters-in-law Alberta (Gere) Miller, Doris Gere and brother-in-law Donald Gere. Dorintha was born on January 3, 1924 in Geneva, NY to Dudley and Susan (VanDoren) Crisfield, the youngest of six children. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1942 and went to work at the newly built Seneca Army Depot as a secretary. After marrying at age 22, she worked part-time in her husband's insurance agency but primarily focused on her home and four children. She was adept at cooking, baking, sewing and gardening and shared her knowledge as a 4-H leader for many years. In her spare time she loved to read and do crossword puzzles.Dorintha was an accomplished pianist and organist contributing her talents for over 50 years as the organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Romulus and accompanying friends and family piano-side at social and holiday gatherings. She loved living on Cayuga Lake and creating a home that was a destination for all her loved ones to come and be welcome with food and fun. Dorintha and Howard loved to travel. They went to places all over the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. Dorintha is survived by her four children: Deborah Feingold (Barnet), Williamsburg, VA, Robert Gere (Lise), Seneca Falls, NY, Mary Ellen Gere-Penna, (Jerry), Binghamton, NY and Charles Gere (Judy), Romulus, NY, who lived and cared for Dorintha during the last years of her life. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Joshua (Jo) and Hallie Feingold, Morgan and Corinne Gere, Adria Penna and Sheree and Julia Galipeau, three great-grandchildren Audree Galipeau and Benjamin and Mirabelle Feingold, brothers-in-law Homer and Paul (Mary) Gere and many nephews and nieces. Dorintha was a gracious and loving soul who will be deeply missed.A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, November 10th at 2:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Romulus, with Lay Pastor Joy Novak officiating. The family will receive friends and family at the church at 1:00 pm prior to the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorintha's life.
