SHREWSBURY M. Fay (Biddinger) Shingara, 89, formerly of Shamokin and York, died on Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Barbara J. Egan Nursing Center, Shrewsbury, where she was a resident since this past September. She was the wife of the late Robert I. Shingara. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday March 20, 2015 at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc. 53 Main St., Glen Rock. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 21, 2015 at the Farrow Funeral Home, 6th and Chestnut Street, Shamokin, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Shamokin. The Rev. Grace Gravelle will officiate at the service. Mrs. Shingara was born on August 19, 1925 in Gowen City. She was the daughter of the late Oliver L. and Laura M. (Kerstetter) Biddinger. She graduated from Shamokin High School in 1943. She was employed by C&P Telephone Company in Cockeysville Md. in the accounting department for over 17 years and retired in 1987. Mrs. Shingara was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Shrewsbury. She enjoyed reading, playing the organ doing crossword puzzles, playing Pokeno and baking for her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from her love of family and their happiness and well-being. She leaves two daughters, Evelyn K. Miller and her husband, Ed of York, and Carol F. Bernard of Stewartstown; three grandsons, Jonathan Bernard, Adam Bernard, and Michael Miller; her son-in-law, James W. Sumey; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ruthann Sumey; three sisters, Margaret Milbrand, Fara Rudisill and Dorothy Enterline; and a brother, Layman Weikel.
