GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Mr. M. "Butch" Patterson, 64, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Haven Hospice E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville.
Mr. Patterson was born on March 16, 1953 in Pickens, S.C., to the late Gaine and Burice (Turner) Patterson.
Butch graduated from Easley High School in 1971 and continued his education at Clemson University earning a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in 1975. He married Emily Hart in 1976. The couple moved to Orange Park in 1988 from West Virginia, and to Starke in 2005.
Butch worked as an industrial sales engineer for scale companies in Washington, D.C., Virginia, West Virginia and Florida. He was member of the First United Methodist Church of Starke, the North Florida Honey Bee Association and the Florida Artist Blacksmith Association. In his spare time he enjoyed bass fishing and hunting. He was also a former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 25 at Orange Park Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Emily Hart Patterson; sons, Scott Patterson (Becky) of Greenville, S.C., and Brad Patterson (Michelle) of Jacksonville Beach; brother, Donnie Patterson of Anderson, S.C.; grandchildren, Gaine Patterson and Bree Patterson; nephew, Russell Patterson of Easley, S.C.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Starke with Pastor Mike Moore officiating.
