Holthaus, 83Rochester, Minnesotaformerly of St. Augusta, MinnesotaSept. 26, 1933 ~ Aug. 30, 2017Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta, MN for Mabel Marie Holthaus age 83 of Rochester, MN formerly of St. Augusta, MN. Mabel passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, MN. Reverend Jose Edayadiyil will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Mabel was born on September 26, 1933 in St. Augusta, MN the daughter of Edward and Alice (Benoit) Hinkemeyer. She attended grade school in Clearwater, MN and then attended Tech High School graduating in 1952. She was united in marriage to Paul A. Holthaus on August 27, 1956 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Four children were born to this union. Mabel worked the majority of her career at St. Cloud State University ending as the Office Manager in the Alumni Association Office retiring in 2001. She moved with her husband Paul to Rochester, MN in 2003 to be closer to their children. This has been her home since that time. She was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Parish and Christian Mothers in St. Augusta. Mabel enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul on December 25, 2016, and two brothers, Lloyd and Dean Hinkemeyer. She is survived by, her four children; Cheryl (David) Moertel of Rochester, MN, Debra (Mark) Traffas of Lakeville, MN, Brian (Nadine) Holthaus of Oronco, MN and James (Sarah) Holthaus of Galesville, WI; eight grandchildren, Jessica Moertel (Andrew Corbett), Sarah (Maverick) Edberg, Ryan Moertel, Lisa (Jacob) Lewy, Conner, Paul, Zachary, and Nathan Holthaus, one great grandson Owen Edberg; one sister Ardis Reiter, and two brothers Roy (Delrose) Hinkemeyer and Dale Hinkemeyer all of Clearwater; other relatives and many friends. Memorials are preferred to St. Mary Help of Christians Parish in St. Augusta.
