ASHEBORO - Madge McDuffy Johnson, age 84, of Asheboro, formerly of Emerald Isle, died Friday, July 11, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Johnson was born on November 6, 1929, in Lenoir County to William Roosevelt and Ruby Eubanks McDuffy. While in Asheboro, she was a member of First Baptist Church. Before her recent move to Asheboro, she was a member of Emerald Isle Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, J.B. McDuffy. Madge was a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother. She loved dancing, singing in the choir and cooking for family and friends. She was a Life Master Bridge player and loved spending time playing bridge with friends. She is survived by her two sons, Duffy Johnson and his wife Donna, of Asheboro, Derrick Johnson and his wife Keitha, of Clayton, N.C.; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Meagan Johnson and Morgan Johnson; sister, Elneta Jones of Kinston, N.C.; and brother, Roger McDuffy and his wife Nadine, of Hendersonville, N.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 16, 2014, from 6-8 p.m., at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro. A memorial service will be held at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church in Kinston at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014, with the Rev. Freddy Braswell and Dr. Michael Cogdill. The family will receive friends following the service.
