Mrs. Madge Saunders Elliott age 88, of West Jefferson, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Elliott was born on June 10, 1927 in Ashe County to Jasper Clarence "JC" and Lela Eldreth Saunders. Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Wilma Saunders, Kathleen Lyalls and her husband, Henry Howard Elliott. Mrs. Elliott was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved crocheting baby blankets, cooking, and canning. She was a faithful member of Smethport Baptist Church and retired from Sprague Electric after 38 years of service.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Smethport Baptist Church by Rev. Lloyd Day and Rev. Phil Arnold. Burial followed in West Jefferson Cemetery.

The family received friends at Badger Funeral Home, prior to the service.

Mrs. Elliott is survived by: daughter, Rita Eller and husband Walter of Asheville, son, Gale Elliott and wife Pat of West Jefferson, four Grandchildren, Stacey Carter & husband Michael, Angie Crossman & husband Scott, Elaine May & husband Curtis and Belinda Gilley & husband Joe, nine great-grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua & Colin Carter, Noah & Lucas Crossman, Dylan & Hunter Howell, Matt & Abby Gilley; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
