Magdaleno "Rick" Lopez Jr., 73, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 8, 2015, in Preston, Idaho. He was born on Aug. 20, 1941, in East Chicago, Indiana, to Magdaleno Lopez Sr. and AnnaMarie Ochoa. He married Caroly Fay Gittins on Dec. 16, 1978, in Preston, Idaho. Rick served his country honorably and was a Vietnam War hero. Rick loved his family and community. He worked for and retired from the local post office after 25 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, of Preston; his children Brent (Kristie) Lass; Rick K. Hoovater, Anna Marie (Terry) Robinson; Jennifer Jo (Josh) Sinykin; and Jesse Richard (Heather) Lopez, and all of his beloved grandchildren whom Rick loved with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Rhonda Lynn Lass, and a grandson Brayde Issaac Gustin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, in the Preston South Stake Center, 55 E. 100 South in Preston. A viewing will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the stake center.
