We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Maggie Stephens, who was born on April 14, 1929, in Greenville, Illinois . She peacefully left this world on April 3, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at BSW Hillcrest.

Graveside service will be held April 10th at 10am, at Axtell Cemetery with Rev. Ron Charles officiating.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Estelle; husband Bill Stephens and daughters, Belinda Hancock and Lisa Wilson; beloved brother, Johnny Mansel; and grandson, Patrick Dun.

Maggie was the beloved daughter of Johnny and Estelle Polin. In 1970, she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Stephens, and together they raised five children: Lisa Wilson, Joe Eastep, Belinda Hancock, Steven Eastep, and Kenneth Eastep.

Throughout her life, Maggie dedicated herself to her work at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she made a lasting impact until her retirement in 2005 after 35 years.

Outside of work, Maggie enjoyed hobbies such as Bingo, Crochet, and Traveling, always finding joy in the little moments shared with family and friends.

Maggie will be dearly missed by all who knew her, including her 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.


She also leaves behind numerous loving extended family members and lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.
