Malik and I grew up together, riding our bikes around our old neighborhood and making up our own stories. Malik enjoyed nature, and we would make forts in trees that were easy to climb, as well as forts out of sticks that we would build around shrubbery. Malik liked Halo, and when we had sleepovers, we would binge-play the Halo series. Malik adored his brothers, as well as his mother, whom he was fiercely protective of. Malik would also shield me from bullying by the bigger kids in the neighborhood, despite the fact that I was the elder one. I have images of us as kids, as well as a video of us singing the ending credits song to his favorite film at the time Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. Malik was a gentle soul with heart full of love, I wish I had kept in touch after High school, but I didn't make much effort to reach out to him everyday and I'll forever regret it. I just pray for peace over his entire family and that one day we will all be reunited in our eternal rest.
I love you Malik and until we meet again, may you rest well my friend.
