Manuel Sena (Manny), 76, passed away on Oct. 5, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer's and diabetes. Manny was born on Dec. 26, 1939, in Maes. He was raised on the ranch and later in Las Vegas. Manny was a graduate of West Las Vegas High School where he played basketball for the Dons. He joined the National Guard and served in Fort Hood, Texas.Manny was a manager/salesman for the Joe G. Maloof Companies for nearly 40 years in Santa Fe and Las Vegas. He became a Farmers Insurance agent and managed his agency in Las Vegas until his retirement in 2008. Manny was full of life and an active member of the community and many civic organizations and in all of Northern New Mexico. His vibrant entrepreneurial spirit was always busy working on projects and keeping him busy and active. He is loved by his family and many friends and was always willing to lend a hand to everyone. He was a friend to all.Manny cherished and is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Berna Martinez Sena; his loving children, son, Robert Sena, and daughter, Yolanda Skotchdopole and husband, Paul, and his loving grandchildren, Amanda Skotchdopole and husband, Eric Castillo, Brian Skotchdopole, and Bryanna Sena; Manny's brothers and sisters, Toby Sena, Urbano Sena and wife, Juanita, Max Sena and wife, Annabelle, Helen Grinage, Barbara Grinage and husband, Roger; Manny's nephews and nieces, Tracy Sena, Krista Gold and husband, Orlando, (God-child) Stacy Johnson, Regina Grinage, Kelli Alcantar and husband, JJ., Rose Martinez and husband, Peter, Martha Espinoza, Maria Elena Galindre and husband, Daniel, Joseph Espinoza and wife, Anna, Esther Garduño and husband, Lonnie, Chelito Garduño, Carlitos Trujillo, Linda Montaño and husband, Juan, Marcialito Martinez, Tina Martinez and Arturito Martinez; brothers-in-law, Joe Martinez and wife, Maria, and Arthur Martinez and wife, Dolores; and Manny's aunt and uncle, Angelina Chavez and Eloy Sena. Manny also has several grandnephews and grandnieces. Manny was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel D. Sr. and Carolina H. Sena; his daughter, Romain Sena; his brother, Albino Sena; his nephew, Matias Sena, and his niece, Amanda Grinage. On Wednesday a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas. A celebration of Manny's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday also at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant.
