It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Manuel Venegas. Mr. Venegas passed away surrounded by all of his children on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 91. He was born on May 10, 1927 in El Pueblito, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jorge and Sara Venegas. Manuel and his wife Maria moved to Tularosa, NM in 1965 where they raised their family. In later years, they made their home in La Luz and Alamogordo, NM before moving to Las Cruces. Manuel was a talented gardener, musician, and an amazing father. He enjoyed working in his garden, playing his saxophone, and truly loved hard work. He loved all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with such gentleness. We will all forever love and miss him.Mr. Venegas is survived by his sons Ernest Venegas , Manuel Venegas, and Jay Venegas.; his daughters Virginia Scott and husband Kenny, Martha Vazquez and husband Guillermo, and Alma (Rosie) Chavez and husband Daniel; and by his grandchildren Larry, Tracy, Kathy, Vanessa, Eric, Juan, Valerie, Gabriel, Guillermo (Memito) , Eduardo, Jorge, Keena, and Daniel Samson. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren. Manuel is preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Maria, their sons Josecito and Victor Manuel; his parents, one sister and four brothers.The honor of being a pallbearer is given to Ernest Venegas, Manuel Venegas, Daniel Chavez, Larry Scott, Guillermo (Memito) Vazquez, and Tom Wolff. Honorary pallbearers are Juan Venegas and all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Getz Funeral Home. The rosary will be at 9 am, with a funeral mass and burial to follow on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Our Lady of Purification.
