Manuel VenetisPoughkeepsie - Manuel (Mike) John Venetis, 93 of Poughkeepsie, passed away after a long illness on Monday, October 16, 2017 at home with his wife Evangeline, by his side. Mike was born on January 3, 1924 in Walden, New York to John and Irene Asomatianou-Venetis. Mike married Evangeline (Lee) Frangk on January 2, 1946 in Rhinebeck, NY. at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church. Mike is survived by his sons, Tim Venetis of Lagrangeville, NY; Steve Venetis and wife, Michele of Whidbey Island, Washington; his daughter, Tina Venetis DeLapp and husband, Dan of La Quinta, California. Mike is also survived by his four grandchildren, Ian Wachowiak, Jordan Venetis, Clay Venetis and Stephanie DeLapp; great grandson, Jaxon; nephew, Stan Frangk and his wife, Debra, their children Denise, Andrea and Stephen Frangk and his wife, Shelby. Mike is predeceased by his parents, brother Charles, sisters Mary Carle, Katherine DelSanto and Marcena Brooks.Mike served as a Master Sgt. in the United States Army, 87th Infantry from February, 1943 to December 1945 in the European Theatre of Operations - Belgium Bulge. Mike was the Owner/Manager of the Hub Restaurant in Red Oaks Mill, Poughkeepsie, NY from June 1955 to June 1974. He was a member of the Mid-County Rod and Gun Club, Billings, NY. Upon Mike's retirement at 50 years of age, he was able to travel, fish, hunt and enjoy many years with his family, especially with his grandchildren.There will be a wake on Thursday, October 18, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at the Parmele, Auchmoody & Schoonmaker Funeral Home, 110 Fulton Ave., Poughkeepsie. Funeral services will be 10 am, Friday, October 19, 2017 at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church on South Grand Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Father Joseph Collins will be officiating.
