Marcia Widdoes Bacci1922 - 2016Resident of San JoseMarcia Bacci passed away peacefully at her home in San Jose, California on November 12, 2016 with members of her family present.Marcia was a resident of San Jose for more than 60 years. She was an active member of P.E.O. Chapter 00 for over 50 years; she found great joy and lasting friendship through this philanthropic work. She also served on the Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the First Congregational Church in San Jose. Marcia enjoyed many hobbies including golf, travel, reading, crossword puzzles, playing piano, bridge games and bocce ball gatherings with her family and friends. She will be remembered fondly for her grace and kindness, her clever wit and playful, competitive spirit.Marcia was born on December 20, 1922 to Hazel and Curtis Widdoes in Sebastopol. She attended Antioch University in Ohio. She was married to Dr. Orval Bacci for 35 years. After starting her family, Marcia returned to U.C. Berkeley where she obtained her Masters Degree in Social Work. She then worked in Child Protective Services for the County of Santa Cruz for 10 years. After retiring from the County, she traveled to many parts of the world with friends and with family. She is survived by her children; Janis Simmons (Craig) of Salem, OR; Rain Bacci (Sandi Green) of Denver, CO; Donald R. Bacci (Shelly) of San Jose and Marilyn Dippell (Steven) of San Jose; granddaughters Elise Bacci Shelley (Greg) of San Mateo and Jaclyn Bacci Moody (Chris) of San Francisco; two step-grandsons, Robert Dippell (Amanda) of San Francisco and Todd Simmons of Salem, OR; and great–grandsons, Carter and Austin Shelley.Memorial services will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1980 Hamilton Ave., San Jose on January 6, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.
