Margaret Ann Killingsworth, affectionately known as “Ann,” transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father on October 11, 2025. She was born on December 16, 1962, in Barnwell, South Carolina, to the late Margarethe Hawkins and John Henry Johnson. From the very beginning, Ann’s life was marked by faith, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to serve others—laying the foundation for one of the most inspiring journeys of humble servanthood imaginable.
At an early age, Ann faced life’s challenges with grace and faith. Diagnosed with scoliosis, she learned to rely wholly on God’s strength and purpose. She often reminded those around her that “God afflicts us, but rescues us from affliction,” and she lived that truth daily—turning adversity into testimony. Guided by faith and sustained by family, Ann made it her mission to serve others regardless of life’s limitations, walking courageously in her divine purpose.
Ann received her education in the Bamberg District Two School System. She began her career in customer service, where her compassion and diligence were evident, before discovering her passion for manufacturing and quality control. Ann joined International Reinforced Plastics (IRP) in Denmark, SC, where she contributed significantly to product development and quality assurance. Her professional journey later led her to Augusta Fiberglass in Blackville, SC, before returning to IRP, where she continued her work until becoming disabled.
A devoted woman of faith, Ann confessed the Lord as her Savior early in life and was baptized at Rome Baptist Church in Denmark, SC. She later joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Blackville, SC, where she served faithfully. In 2007, Ann relocated to Laurens, South Carolina, where she re-entered the workforce at Louis Rich. Despite being advised medically not to return to work, she trusted in God’s promise that “with Him, the impossible still becomes possible.” Her faith was rewarded through career growth, leadership roles, and numerous accolades that reflected her integrity and excellence. Even after suffering a stroke following a work-related operation, Ann remained steadfast in her belief that God’s plan still had purpose. She continued to walk in His light until the Lord called her home.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Julius Scott Killingsworth; sister, Belinda G. Williams; and brothers, John A. Johnson, Eddie Dowling Jr., and Michael Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory four children: Tracey (Larrius) O’Neal of Columbia, SC; Tawanika Hawkins of Clinton, SC; Scott Hawkins of Greenville, SC; and Julius Hawkins of Laurens, SC. She is also survived by four sisters: Kay (Bobby) Green of Enoree, SC; Vivian Toomer of Denmark, SC; Joyce Copeland of Savannah, GA; and Judith Dowling of Denmark, SC. Her legacy continues through her four adored granddaughters: Nizasha O’Neal and Janaesha O’Neal of Columbia, SC; and Juliaya Hawkins and Ke’Asia Hawkins of Greenwood, SC. She will also be lovingly remembered by her special friend, William Anthony Brooks of Laurens, SC, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Margaret Ann Killingsworth’s life was one of faith, strength, and service. Her journey reminds us that God’s grace is sufficient and His purpose is perfect. Though she will be deeply missed, her light and love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
