Margaret A EliaAge: 88 • StauntonSTAUNTON - Margaret Ann Elia, 88 years old, of Staunton passed away on Thursday May 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 25, 1928 in Fairmont, West Virginia to Dominick and Mary (Gibbles) Colantino. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. "Nana," as she was affectionately called, loved her family above all else and felt her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She very much enjoyed painting crafts and reading books when not spending time with her family, and her spaghetti sauce was like no other. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donald Elia (Becky) of Bluffton, S.C., Louis Robert Elia (Terry) of Fishersville, James Elia of Staunton and Linda Campbell (Douglas) of Stuarts Draft, and her grandchildren, D. Joseph Elia (Emily) of Roswell, Ga., Amy Rodea (Laurence) of Warrenton and Julia Margaret Campbell of Stuarts Draft. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Isaac, Isabella, Chloe and Deklen Rodea of Warrenton. She is also survived by her best friend Rose Cassetta of Painesville, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Carmen Elia in 1999 after 49 years of marriage, and special twin cousins, Pauline Argiro and Madeline Cinalli. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bear Funeral Home, Churchville. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 24 at 10 a.m. by Father Joe Wamala at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery. The family wishes to extend appreciation to Mary Lou, Theresa, and Monique for their care and compassion and to special friends, Mary Cox and Kay Digges, for the kindness and love shown to their mother.
