Beaster, MargaretMargaret Beaster, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Maple Meadows (formerly Brookdale Senior Living). Margaret Evelyn Hutton was born on March 4, 1918, the youngest of seven children to William and Lillian Hutton in the small town of Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was baptized at the Emmetsburg First United Methodist Church where as a young woman she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.Margaret graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1936, and due to the depression and lack of jobs in her small town, she moved to Joliet, Illinois. There she began working as a bookkeeper at a nuclear energy plant. Later she moved to Fond du Lac with her sister Ethel, where she did bookkeeping for the Borden Company.Margaret met her husband Lindor after the war, and they married on November 23, 1946 in North Fond du Lac. She enjoyed math, and was meticulous with numbers. This skill led her to become the North Fond du Lac Clerk/Treasurer, a position she held for many years.Cooking and entertaining were activities that Margaret enjoyed, as well as doing craft projects. Once retired, Margaret and her husband wintered in Arizona, and also traveled throughout the country to Lindor's USS Helena Navy reunions.Margaret was a member of the North Fond du Lac American Legion Auxiliary, where she was a member for sixty-seven years. During that time she held many offices in the Auxiliary, with her favorite being Sergeant at Arms.Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her five sisters, Vena, Fern, Cora, Ethel, and Esther; and her brother, Roy. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.Visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A Christian funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Chaplain Kevin Haworth.
