Margaret CauseyMrs. Margaret Causey died on July 13, 2017 at the age of 99. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m., officiating will be Father Pike Thomas. Burial will follow at Forest Park, St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, LA. Mrs. Causey was born on May 19, 1918 in Natchitoches, LA, the daughter of Cora Maude Henry Hicks and Roy Olin Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Billie Pate Causey, Sr., her parents, and one son, Patrick Hicks Causey.She graduated from St. Mary's High School and Louisiana State Normal College in Natchitoches, LA and received a MA in English from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL After her marriage she lived and taught for two years in Portland, ME before moving to Shreveport, LA, where she taught and was a guidance counselor in the Caddo Parish school system for 30 years. She was honored as Educator of the Year in 1979. Upon her retirement in 1980, Mrs. Causey volunteered for many years as a counselor with Christian Services. Mrs. Causey was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served on the St. Joseph Elementary School Board from 1963 to 1966.She is survived by two sons, Bill Causey, Jr. and wife Judy, of Shreveport, LA and Henry Causey and wife Sue, Augusta, GA; one daughter, Sr. Meg Causey, RSCJ, Poughkeepsie, NY; seven grandchildren, Andy Causey and wife, Jenny, Wylie, TX, Chad Causey and wife Suzanne, Shreveport, LA, Megan Frederick and husband Ethan, Pensacola, FL, Carrie Johnson and husband Dean, Waynesboro, GA, Kristin Causey, Augusta, GA, Katie Causey, Augusta, GA, Morgan Causey of Portland, OR; twelve great - grandchildren, Emily Causey, Shelby Causey, Mia Causey, Miller Frederick, Bailey Causey, Max Frederick, Braden Causey, Trey Johnson, Maddox Causey, Nathan Causey, Carly Johnson, and Parker Causey.Honoring MamMa as pallbearers will be her grandchildren.The family wishes to thank Dr. Alan Borne, the staff and the aides at The Glen and Regional Hospice Care Group for their loving care.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to
the Salvation Army, 200 E. Stoner Ave., Shreveport, LA.
