Margaret "Peggy" Connell SandersDes MoinesMargaret "Peggy" Ann Connell Sanders passed away on March 12, 2017. She was born on April 5, 1934 in Charleston, West Virginia. Peggy lived in several communities during her husband, Jim's, more than 25-year career in the U.S. Army. When Jim returned from the Vietnam War in 1968, the family moved to Des Moines. During her life Peggy was involved in many community activities including Girl Scouts, Parent/Teacher Associations, South Des Moines Little League, Kiwanis Camp OK, Eastern Star, Pioneer Baseball League, a volunteer at Calvin Community and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Peggy was very active in the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church. Over the years she served in many capacities including pre-school director, treasurer and has filled in as a pianist and organist.Peggy is survived by her daughter, Karen Sanders-Kelly of Des Moines; and son, Jim Sanders (Kathy) of Johnston; four grandchildren, Joshua, Heather (Clifford), Mackenzie and Madison; and two great-grandchildren, Nick and Abby. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Linwood and Lucille Connell; her husband, Jim; and son-in-law, Edward Paul Kelly.A memorial service and luncheon will be held on Friday, March 17 at 11:00 am at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, 3120 SW 9th in Des Moines.Memorials may be provided to Park Avenue Presbyterian Church or Animal Rescue League of Iowa.Condolences may be expressed at
