Margaret E. RothamelDes MoinesMargaret Edith Graham Rothamel (72) of Des Moines, IA passed away Friday April 7, 2017. She suffered a prolonged illness and was cared for at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation Center in Winterset, IA. Family and friends will visit at 6PM on Thursday, April 13 at Iles Westover Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 7pm.Margaret was born on June 1, 1944 in Waterloo, Iowa to her loving parents Edith and Lester Graham. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines except for when she moved to St. Joseph, MN and attended St. Benedicts College. She received a Bachelors in Education in 1966 and worked for the Des Moines Public School District. Margaret and Roger Rothamel raised three sons together. She was often seen working in her lovely garden, out camping with her family or reading a good book. Her big smile was contagious and will be greatly missed.Margaret is survived by her sons, Steven (Tami) Rothamel of Ankeny, IA, Craig (Ragina) Rothamel of Winterset, IA, and Thomas (Elise) Rothamel of Bend, OR; grandaughters, Emily, Juliette and Charlotte; grandson, Tyson; sisters, Jane Drey of Bend, OR and Ann Ferguson of Grinnell, IA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Graham and parents, Lester and Edith Graham.Memorial contributions may be directed to alzheimers research ( alz.org/donate) or Westbridge Care and Rehab Center.
