BLAIRSTOWN - Margaret E. "Peggy" Walters, of Blairstown, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 30, at Newton Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old. Margaret was born on Oct. 17, 1928, in Marksboro to the late Walter Read Sr., and the late Nellie Read Datesman. Margaret attended Belvidere High School. She was employed at the Portland Blouse Factory for many years She married her husband, the late William C. Walters, in 1951, in the First Presbyterian Church of Blairstown. She then began being a wonderful mother and homemaker. She helped out with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women's Society and a lifelong member of the church.After her two children were older, she became a bookkeeper for the family business, L.E. Walter's & Sons. She worked with her husband for over 50 years. She was predeceased by her husband William in 2013.She is survived by her loving children, David Robert Walters and Donna Walters Rabas and son-in-law James; as well as her loving pet, Papillion "Cody," a brother, Walter Read Jr.; a niece and nephew and several cousins.A visitation will take place on Friday, Nov. 4, from 5-8 p.m., at Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 Main St., Blairstown.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Peggy's memory to The Blairstown Ambulance Corps., P.O. Box 389, Blairstown, NJ 07825.
