KINSTON - Margaret Elizabeth Grigg, 93, was called on Friday, May 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was an only child born on December 19, 1917, to the late Lola Parham Clark and James Rufus Clark. She lived her life by the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmothers, her greatest legacy is her beloved children to whom she dedicated her life. Her life was an example of love, commitment and devotion to her family. She was a role model for living life honestly, treating others with respect, facing challenges with dignity and strength and always focusing on the positives. She was cherished by her family and they will always be grateful for being blessed by having such a wonderful and kind mother in their life. She had many hobbies that brought her joy for many years - helping others, traveling, gardening, sewing, crocheting, reading, cooking and fishing. She was predeceased by her husband, Jesse Grigg; daughter, Wanda Rhodes; and son-in-law, Carrol Rhodes. She leaves behind her grandchildren that she loved dearly and raised as her own: Debra Rhodes Davenport and husband Lee, Ricky Rhodes and wife Wendy, Mary Rhodes, and Joy Rhodes Bogey and husband Dennis. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Mandy Bogey Fox, Amy Bogey Becirovic and husband Edin, Rick Rhodes and Lizzie Rhodes; and her great-great-granddaughter, Alia Beth Becirovic. The family expresses a sincere appreciation to the special staff on Station 3 at Harmony Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Continuum Home Care and Hospice who provided her care and support during her last years. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Reverend Nelson Killingsworth officiating. Visitation will be held following the service.
