On November 7, 2016, Margaret "Peggy" Gregory died peacefully at University of Maryland Medical Center from injuries caused by a serious fall at her home. Peggy was born on September 17, 1932 in Rochester, New York to Carl and Ester Schlicker. Peggy is survived by her cousin, Ms. Vicki Flock, and by her beloved cat, Smokey. Peggy graduated from the University of Connecticut and worked for over 40 years at the National Security Agency. She retired in 1994. She and her mother, Esther, who died in 1989, were original purchasers of a Levitt & Sons' home in Bowie, and she enjoyed telling stories of their homesteading experiences in the 1960s. She loved to travel and was an avid painter. Many of her paintings were of the scenic locations that she visited. She was active in the Bowie Guild of Artists and often displayed her paintings at the Bowie Library. She was also an active member of the Maryland Opera Society. Peggy had a deep interest in the study of the Civil War and participated in many Smithsonian events and trips concerning the Civil War. Friends are invited to Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Maryland between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016. Interment will be in South Hero, Vermont next to her mother.
