HOPKINS, Margaret Anne Margaret Anne (Cook) Hopkins of Tucker, GA passed away on November 6, 2016. Anne was born on historic Burge Plantation in Mansfield, GA on October 26, 1922. She was the fourth child of William M. and Lassie Rickman Cook. She graduated from Washington Seminary and attended Agnes Scott College. Anne enjoyed a wonderful marriage to Hiram Edwin Hopkins for fifty years. She was affectionately called "Honey" by her children and grandchildren. Anne had a beautiful solo voice, singing in church choirs from the age of 13. She sang with choral groups entertaining soldiers in WW2, and in musicals produced by the Atlanta Civic Opera. She was an accomplished seamstress and excelled at many crafts. For 13 years Anne was the Office Manager for the Saks store at Phipps Plaza. She served as First VP for the Atlanta branch of Credit Women International and served on the board of Atlanta Consumer Credit Association. In 1987 she began a new career with CIGNA, where she inspired younger generations of women with her work ethic. Anne lived her Christian faith, doing much volunteer work through Embry Hills UMC for 45 years, and through North Decatur UMC for the 10 years prior. She is predeceased by her siblings, husband and grandson Scott Jones. She is survived and cherished by her son, Douglas Palmer III (Judith) by a previous marriage; her daughter Cornelia Hopkins Jones (Mike); grandchildren Leah Palmer, Douglas Palmer IV (Kari), Jason Jones; and by 4 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the Bentley Square Assisted Living and Aseracare Hospice teams for their care and compassion to Anne. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 26, at the chapel of Embry Hills United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
