Margaret Lytell

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Lytell on December 13, 2023, at the age of 62. Margaret was born in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on August 26, 1961, to Emilie Lytell Henson and Bert Lytell, and she spent her life embracing the beauty of art, sports, and a genuine connection with those she loved.
Margaret’s early years were filled with a passion for working with horses, a love that would shape her character and leave a lasting impact on her life. She enjoyed the simplicity of nature and the bond between humans and animals, a sentiment that carried through her years.
In her youth, Margaret was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly reveling in the joy of playing basketball. Her competitive spirit and love for the game showcased her dedicated to both physical activity and camaraderie. Beyond sports, Margaret had a creative soul, finding solace and joy in the realms of drawing, painting, poetry, and gardening. Her artistic endeavors were a reflection of the depth and diversity of her interests.
Margaret graduated from Stoutland High School, Stoutland, Missouri in the class of 1979. She embarked on her professional journey at a young age, starting to work at the age of 16. Her dedication and work ethic were evident throughout her life, culminating in a career in retail at Walmart, where she made lasting connections with colleagues and customers alike.
Margaret’s journey through life was shared with her partner, Linda Owens. Though Margaret did not have children of her own, she found fulfillment in her relationships with nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Emilie and Bert, her dad Drury Henson, siblings Emilie (Millie) Lytell, Jon Lytell, Bert Lytell, Annette Hinshaw, niece Amy Hinshaw, brother-in-law John Rupard, and brother-in-law David Hinshaw.
She is survived by her partner, Linda Owens, sisters Linda and Joe Harkness, Betty Rupard, niece Amanda Hinshaw, nephew James Cornelison, great-nieces Emma Cornelison and Ella Cornelison, nephew Dylan Rupard and Alana Miller, and great-nephews Ezra and Matthias Rupard.
A celebration of life / funeral to honor Margaret’s life will be held on January 6, 2024 at 1 pm at St. Judes Catholic Church located in Richland, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Springfield Mortuary Service, Inc in Margaret’s name.
