HOOKERTON | Margaret Mary Wilson Herring Hart, 72, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at her home in Hookerton. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Cary Wilson and Marian Alice Jansen Wilson; a brother, James Cary Wilson, Jr.; a son, Leonard Kilby Herring, Jr.; and her first husband, Leonard Kilby Herring, Sr. Margaret was born on December 21, 1942, in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. She attended school in Buffalo through the sixth grade. She moved to Grifton, North Carolina in 1955 when her father was transferred with DuPont. She graduated from Grifton High School in June of 1960 and married her first husband on June 4, 1960. She retired from DuPont with 28 years of service in 1993. Surviving is her husband of 41 years, Dewey Wallace Hart of the home, who she married on December 26, 1973. Also surviving is a daughter, Laura Kaye Herring Barwick and husband Anthony Glenn Barwick, of Grifton; a son, Dewey Wallace Hart, Jr. of the home; step-daughter, Sandra Kay Hart Croy and husband Stanley LaRue Croy, of Lakeland, Fla.; step-son, Steven Wallace Hart and wife Wendy Pardee Hart, of Alburndale, Fla.; grandchildren, Mary Leslie Herring Sanderson and husband Roland Lee Sanderson, Jr., of Grifton, and Casey Marie Herring of Hookerton; step-grandsons, Thomas Anthony Barwick of Grifton, Jeffrey Allen Croy and Spencer LaRue Croy, both of Lakeland, Fla., and Steven Anthony Hart of Lucama; great-grandchildren, Caleb Sanderson and Callie Sanderson, both of Grifton; daughter-in-law, Alice Jean Knott Herring of Hookerton; brother, Thomas Wilson and wife Wanda Jackson Wilson, of Greenville; a sister, Barbara Ann Wilson Avery of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 22, at the chapel of Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service with the Reverend Billy Raynor of Kinston presiding. A family committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 23, at the Westview Cemetery in Kinston. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening following the service and other times at the residence.
