LAGRANGE — Margaret Ellen McDonald, 81, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Thursday, February 5, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family and best friend, Janet Peters. Mrs. McDonald was born on February 23, 1933, in LaGrange to Paul C. and Ruth M. (Reed) Schrock. Margaret was a lifetime resident and loved her hometown of LaGrange, her family and friends, IU basketball, Westerns, and traveling with her husband, Gib. She was a very loving and thoughtful soul to many. Mrs. McDonald worked for 30 years at the LaGrange Hospital, spending 15 years as a nurse's aide in obstetrics and 15 years as an insurance clerk. After retiring from the hospital in 1993, she continued her service work in the office of Home Bound of LaGrange. Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church in LaGrange and the Ruth Circle of the church. She was a 50-year member of both Sylvan Chapter 251 Order of the Easter Star of LaGrange and Delta Theta Tau Sorority and was a member of their Alumni Chapter in LaGrange. She also belonged to Business and Professional Women's Club. On March 28, 1954, in LaGrange she married Charles G. "Gib" McDonald. He preceded her in death on April 8, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, Maribeth (Ace) Howard of Howe, Indiana, and Sue Ellen McDonald and her companion, Jessica Koscher, of Elkhart, Indiana; a son, Steve (Debra) McDonald of Shipshewana, Indiana; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy (Paul) Nicodemus of Holland, Michigan; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Schrock of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. Her parents, and a brother, Tom Schrock, also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, 209 W. Spring St., LaGrange, Indiana, with the Rev. Chris Danielson officiating. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Indiana.
