Reid, MargaretMargaret Louise Reid passed away on October 18, 2016 after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 23, 1925, in, Orangeburg County, S.C., to the late Daisy Moss and Jacob Leysath. Margaret moved to White Plains, New York, in 1955, where she joined Union Baptist Church, and worked as a cook and housekeeper. In 1957, Margaret married the late James Reid and moved to Bridgeport, CT. She worked as a housekeeper and interior designer's assistant until retirement in 1990. In 1963 Margaret joined East End Baptist Church and became a member of the Senior Choir and the Senior Missionary Society. She performed extensive charity work throughout her life, with her church, the Girls Scouts of America, the Parent Teacher Association, the Foster Grandparent Program and two senior volunteer organizations. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Demond, and a brother, Fairlease Moss. Left to cherish her memory are; daughter, Olive Reid of Columbia, MD; one son, Thomas (Pearl) Moss, granddaughter, Patricia Moss, one sister, Leona Moss, all of White Plains, N.Y.; beloved nieces and nephews, and a host of cherished friends.A Service of Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29th at East End Baptist Church, 548 Central Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. 06607. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.
