Sanborn, Margaret (Nee Sibley) 96 years young, passed away in the presence of her daughter on March 7, 2017, at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI. A former marriage and family therapist, she was a longstanding resident of Pewaukee, WI. Margaret was born on November 24, 1920, to William and Erna Sibley in Cardin Oklahoma. She is survived by her daughter Katherine Sanborn (grandsons Phillip and Nicholas Hellmuth), and step-sons John Sanborn (grandchildren Amy, Joe and Claire Sanborn) and Craig Sanborn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Craig Sanborn, her parents, and her siblings, Mulford Q. Sibley, Agnes Sibley and William Sibley. Margaret was raised in Oklahoma and Arkansas. A feminist before the word existed, she completed her undergraduate in Social Work from the University of Oklahoma, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa member and her masters in Social Work from the University of Chicago. She worked as a therapist at the Family Service of Waukesha for 25 years until she retired in 1990. Margaret enjoyed nurturing all living beings. Birds, plants, cats - if it lived she nurtured it. The bird feeders outside of her kitchen window were always full, her beloved cat, Jerry, was like a second child and her green thumb let her bring back to life plants that were no more than a stick in a pot. Margaret's longtime friends and neighbors, Diane, Melvin and Janet Praeger were an invaluable source of support to Margaret over the years and words cannot describe the gratitude they deserve for their loving kindness. Special thanks to all the loving, dedicated staff at Kirkland Crossings, Pewaukee, where she lived for the past 12 years - their kindness and hard work allowed her to make the most of these years. Margaret was fortunate to spend her last few days at Angels Grace Hospice, Oconomowoc - thank you to all the kind-hearted souls that make Angels Grace such a loving, peaceful place. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16, 2017, at 3 PM at Kirkland Crossings, 700 Quinlan Dr., Pewaukee WI, 262-695-5800. In lieu of flowers, Margaret's family is asking for memorial donations to: Presbyterian Homes to support Kirkland Crossings, 2845 Hamline Ave N, Roseville MN 55113, Wisconsin Humane Society, Attn: Development Department, 4500 W.
