Margaretta "Maggie" Mae Davis, 87, of Vandalia, passed away at 12:42 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle.Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Hospice of Southern Illinois or Hohlt and File Funeral Home, to help with burial expenses. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.Mrs. Davis was born on Dec. 19, 1928, in Vandalia, the daughter of Delmar and Iva (England) Appleby. She married Roger D. Davis on Nov. 19, 1960; he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2000.Roger and Maggie owned The Village in Keyesport, where Maggie did most of the cooking. She loved to cook for family and friends, and played bingo nearly four days a week. She was a member of Vandalia VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 3901 and Women of the Moose-Vandalia Moose Lodge No. 1447.She is survived by her daughters, Kay and her husband David Ennen of Smithboro, and Tammy and her husband Tim Martie of O'Fallon; sisters, Neta and her husband John Terry of Mulberr Grove, and Evelyn Peters of Arcola; grandchildren, Tony Wollin and his wife Heather, Shelly Dugan, Amanda and her husband Bartley Hass, and Joshua Martie and his wife Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Tiffany and her husband Trevor Voelker, Dallas Jacob Hopkins, Dalton Dugan, Autumn Wollin, Aunika Wollin, Grady Martie, Micah Martie, Chase Hass and Aria Hass; great-great-grandson, Cody Wollin; and great-great-stepgrandchildren, Lanie and Wade Voelker.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Lester and Harold Appleby.
