Margie Ann Veit, 61, died at 1:38 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015, from pancreatic cancer in Mesa, Ariz., with her family by her side. Margie was born on Feb. 12, 1954, in Long Beach, Calif., and was a long time Alaska resident. She was a wife and mother working full-time as an accountant with her husband Melvin for Veit & Veit CPAs, LLC. She is survived by her mother, James Anna Tuttle; sister, Susan Mayo; husband, Melvin Veit; and three sons, Justin, Vincent and Quentin. She is preceded in death by her father, Dana Harvey Tuttle; and brother, Ed Tuttle. Margie had a warm, kind heart and dedicated her life to her family, especially her husband and three sons. She's best remembered as a very outgoing and friendly person who seemed to touch everyone in a positive way. Margie loved to laugh and was well known for her cooking and hospitality, as family and friends well know. Margie loved to exercise together with her husband, Melvin. They would cross-country ski or bike ride everyday, without exception, from their home in Willow, Alaska, or wherever their travels took them. Margie's love, friendship, commitment and compassion for her family and friends will forever be cherished. She fought hard and maintained incredible courage, determination and hope from the beginning of her cancer diagnosis 21 months ago. Our family is deeply saddened at her passing, but relieved that she is no longer suffering. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Margie and Melvin's home in Willow, Alaska. We invite all her friends, and those who wish to celebrate her life, to join us for the memorial service.
