Maria (Nickey) Van Der Westhuizen, born on May 3, 1964 in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa, passed away on December 4, 2023. Nickey lived a life dedicated to helping others and making a difference in her community.

She studied at Rayton Primary School and later in high school. Nickey was known for her generous spirit and willingness to volunteer wherever there was a need. She spent her time helping anyone in need including the elderly, children, and even contributed towards the Santa Shoe Box organization in 2023.

Nickey was a loving partner to Johan Adam Prinsloo and a devoted mother to her two children, Vickey Botha and Antoinette Coetzee. She adored her two grandchildren, whose names are not disclosed.

In her free time, Nickey enjoyed working with her hands and doing whatever she could to assist those around her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and her kind heart and loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her true love was her animal children, all kinds that would find their way into her home and heart

Tragically, Nickey's life was cut short when she was shot in the chest during an attempted home burglary. Her untimely death has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends.

Nickey's legacy of compassion and selflessness will live on in the memories of those she touched. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to helping others. May she rest in peace.
