MADISON - SAN ANTONIO, TX - Maria M. Benisch, age 58, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in Madison. She was born on February 17, 1954 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Valintine and Eloisa (Jimenez) Rodriguez. She moved to Madison with her family in 1965. Maria enjoyed life with her family and friends at gatherings. She loved to cook special Mexican dishes, to listen to music, to have a drink or two, to sit around a bonfire and talk about life, and dozens of other reasons just to be surrounded by her family and friends. Maria always welcomed people into her home. She was employed for many years as a food service worker for the Madison School District. For the past few years she worked as a crossing guard, a job she loved, being able to see children with their smiling faces. Maria is survived by her two sons, David and Ron II (Diana) Benisch; two grandchildren, R.J. and Natalie Benisch; siblings: Julian (Mary) Tijerina, Valintine Jr., Carmen (Phil) Ditsch, Rafael “Mike”, Margie (Romulo) Flores, and Diane; many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews; and many special friends including Clemente Vargas and Stephanie Green. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Robert, Juan, Ernesto and Hector and sister, Theresa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 120 W. Johnson St., Madison, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and again at the church on Monday from 10 am until the time of Mass.
