Maria Mercedes Alaniz age 78. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on February 20, 2025. Maria was born on July 8, 1946, in Mathis, Texas, to Fransico R. Rodriquez and Maria Gonzales. She married Rodolfo M. Alaniz on April 3, 1973, and together they were blessed with seven children, ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Maria loved sewing, cherished cooking for her family and found immense joy in spending summers with her grandchildren. She had a unique way of loving everyone in her life.

Maria is now preceded in death by her parents, Fransico R. Rodriquez and Maria Gonzales, and five siblings: Anita Speckman, Francisco Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez, Jucinta Garcia, and Margarita Blackmon. As well as her two sons: Juan Daniel Alaniz and Alberto Alaniz and great-grandson, Liam Jacob Perez.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, located at 1120 52nd Street in Lubbock, Texas. The service will commence on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
