McAllen - Maria R. Palacios Garza went to be with our Lord on Monday November 14, 2016 in McAllen at the age of 89 yrs. "Reyitos" as she was lovingly known was born on May 2, 1927 in La Reforma, Starr County, Texas to Pablo and Filomena Palacios. She was a longtime resident of McAllen where she was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church.She met Mr. Enrique Garza Sr. after he had returned from his service during World War II. It was love at first sight. They were married on Nov. 24, 1946. Reyitos had a strong belief in her faith in God her family and life. Together they raised 6 children. She was employed with the McAllen ISD for more than 20 years until her retirement in 2001.She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, and a son Enrique Garza Jr.Left to cherish her memory are her children; † Enrique Garza Jr. (Olga), Hilda G. Lara (Herb), David Garza (Betty Ann)Ricardo Garza, Rosalinda Garza, and Normalinda G. Montemayor (Oscar); a sister- in- law, Amelia Palacios. Also 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and extended family. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Rivera Funeral Home, 1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 12:00- 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Church in McAllen. Interment will follow to Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery on N. Taylor Rd. in McAllen.
