Maria Simonita Sandoval, 90, a life long resident of Tierra Monte, San Miguel County, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. She was preceded in death by her mother, Petrita Torrez; her husband, Herman Sandoval Sr.; an infant daughter, Elizabeth Sandoval; and a son, Jimmy (Cricket) Sandoval.She is survived by five daughters, Anna Gutierrez and husband, Moises, of Trujillo, Eva Hertz, and Mary Ann Lopez and husband, Joseph, and Rosie Sandoval, all of Albuquerque, and Elizabeth Vigil and husband, Art, of Tierra Monte; four sons, Andrew Sandoval and his wife, Mary Jane, of Tierra Monte, Herman Sandoval Jr. of Las Vegas, Mario Sandoval and his wife, Debbie, of Tierra Monte, and Leroy Sandoval and wife, Loretta, of Las Vegas; one brother, Margarito Segura of Pueblo, Colo.; 29 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.She was born on July 5, 1924 in Canyon De Manuelitas to Petrita Torrez. She was united in marriage on Sept. 9, 1940 to Herman Sandoval in Sapello. She loved her flower garden and plants. Her great joy was cooking for her family and friends. Her home was always open with a warm welcome and a hot meal for everyone who entered. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and will be greatly missed.A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. (today) Monday in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations, 2315 Hot Springs Blvd. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Tuesday beginning with a rosary at 9 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Father Douglas Mitchell will be celebrating the mass. The interment will follow in the San Ysidro Cemetery in Manuelitas with the following serving as casket bearers: Robert Sandoval, David Vigil, Eric Sandoval, Adrian Gutierrez, Jonathan Lopez and Kenny Sandoval.
