SPARKS, MARIAN DOOLEYMarian Dooley Sparks, 85 loving wife of Erwin Ray Sparks for 52 years of Clinton passed away on January 24, 2017 after a short illness with her loving husband by her side. Marian was born on February 22, 1931 at the Hospital of St. Barnabas in Newark, New Jersey. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, New Jersey and attended nursing school. Marian worked in Dental and Pediatrician's offices for much of her life and was an active parishioner of Church of the Holy Advent in Clinton where she was a member of the vestry for several years. Marian will be remembered for her service to the community which included volunteering at the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry. She was also a member of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department since 1985 where she has been recognized by her peers for the significant contribution she made to the Department as an EMT responding to more than 3000 medical emergencies. If that wasn't enough, Marian also dressed as the department mascot "Sparky the Dalmatian" for the town's parades and events. Marian had the ability to see the good in all people, a willingness to give her time selflessly to others and an appreciation for the simple things in life. She was an avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles. She loved baking, crafts, sewing, needlepoint, knitting and cake decorating. Above all, Marian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband Erwin, her sons Patrick and his wife Carol of Washington, Maine, Thomas and his wife Cheryl of Kensington, Eric and his wife Kate of Guilford, her grandchildren Katie and her husband Michael of Cameron, North Carolina, Stephanie and her husband David of Clinton, Ryan of Vernon, Arielle and Tyler of Kensington and great-grandchildren Stefen and Kaelyn. Marian was predeceased by her parents, George and Gertrude, a sister Josephine and a brother Thomas
Edward.Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at Church of the Holy Advent, 81 East Main Street, Clinton. Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 12 noon at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, 540 N. Broadway, Sleepy Hollow, New York.
