In Loving Memory

Marian LaNora Brown Highsmith, affectionately called "Dinky", 73, of Richmond, Virginia, fell asleep in death on Friday, November 13, 2020.

Marian was born on January 26, 1947. After graduation from Armstrong High School, she fell in love with her childhood friend, Wendell Highsmith, Sr.. They were married on February 24,1968. They nurtured and raised three sons, Tyree Renard, Wendell, Jr., and Shawn Kenard Highsmith. Tehy both worked hard to care for their growing family and pass on their wonderful family heritage.

She retired from The Medical of Virginia Hospitals as a certified pharmacist technician after some 29 years, having a number of jobs beforehand.

A milestone in her life was her study of the Bible, learning and cherishing precious truths concerning her God, Jehovah, his Son, Jesus Christ, and the glorious promise of a paradise earth. (Psalm 37:10,11,29; Luke 23:43; Revelation 21:3-5) This led her to dedicate her life to serve Jehovah and symbolize it by water baptism on May 12, 1973, becoming one of Jehovah\'s Witnesses. She cherished those in the congregations she was a part of and was especially skilled at telling others about God\'s Kingdom and its benefits, including a future resurrection of loved ones lost in death. She would write many letters to individuals and families, receiving calls and letters of appreciation back.

She genuinely loved her family, speaking fondly of her husband, her sons, her daughters-in-law, her sisters and the rest of the family.

Preceding her in death are her dear husband of 39 years, Wendell, Sr., her father and mother, Arnold and Clara Lewis Brooks, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William Joseph and Ella Black Highsmith, and two brothers-in-law, Charles Watkins, Sr. and Thomas Canty. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Tyree Renard, Wendell, Jr. (Tina) and Shawn Kenard HIghsmith (Deborah), daughter-in-law, Sonya Chavis Highsmith, her sisters, Claressa Watkins and Margaret Canty, her sisters-in-law, Velesto Courts (Milton, Sr.) and Annesto Younger (Tyrone), her brother-in-law, Bobby R. Highsmith, Sr. (Beverly), her grandaughters, Najjee Kai Highsmith, London and Nastarsia Morris, her great granddaughter, Giovanie, and a host of nieces, nephews, spiritual brothers, spiritual sisters and other friends.
