SNOW HILL - Mrs. Marian Louise Sanders Liles, age 85, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013. A native of Conneaut, Ohio, she was born on April 24, 1927, the daughter of Eugene and Hazel Mitchell Sanders. Mrs. Liles graduated from Warwick High School in Newport News, Virginia and during the three years following graduation worked at Camp Patrick Henry and Fort Eustic, Virginia. In 1948 she entered Riverside Hospital School of Nursing and upon graduation married and moved to Colonial Beach, Virginia where she did office work and private duty nursing. In 1957 she moved to Snow Hill and worked at Lenoir Memorial Hospital through the mid 1960's and additionally did private duty nursing in other area hospitals and homes. Mrs. Liles volunteered for many years with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Snow Hill. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 24, at the First Baptist Church of Snow Hill. Interment will follow at the Snow Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Liles is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard Lewis Liles; three daughters, Patricia L. Jarman and husband Randall, of Snow Hill, Amy L. Croom and husband Rufus, of Plymouth, and Pamela L. Capps and husband Mark, of Kinston; three grandsons, Jeremy Croom and wife Elizabeth, of Knightdale, Josh Croom of Plymouth, and Carter Capps of Renton, Washington; two great-grandsons, Jack Croom and Harrison Croom, both of Knightdale. Other survivors include an aunt, Emma Murray of Saratoga Springs, New York; a brother-in-law, Keith McCoy of Owego, New York; two sisters-in-law, Elsa Sanders of Glen Falls, New York, and Idalee Sanders of Gansevoort, New York; eight nieces and four nephews. Mrs. Liles was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, William, Neil and Norm Sanders; and one sister, Helen McCoy. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 2-2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service and other times at the residence, 1004 Kingold Blvd, Snow Hill.
