Marian Schwenn Timmons passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016. She was born on Monday, August 01, 1921 on her family dairy farm near Middleton, WI. She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Gilbert C. Timmons and her beloved first born, Thomas J. Timmons. Marian is survived by her adult children Robert Timmons of Houma, Shirley J. Timmons of Covington and Kathleen T. Lavigne (Gary) of New Orleans. She is also survived by grandsons Damon Gray Timmons and Gary Michael Lavigne, Jr. Although raised in Wisconsin, at age 21, Marian and her sister Angela joined the U.S. Coast Guard and came to live in New Orleans. There she met her husband Gilbert. Her married years took her to Guatemala City, Salt Lake City, Metairie, Denver, Clarkdale, AZ and finally to Mandeville where she has lived since 1987. She recently remembered her years in Salt Lake City as her happiest. She was the mother of four, a Cub Scott Den Mother and an enthusiast of camping and traveling the beautiful west with her family. Marian had a true interest in others. Because of this she was a treasured friend and veteran of many lively and heartfelt discussions with her much loved nieces and nephews. She was a warm mother, a great friend and will be sadly missed by those left to cherish her memory. A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Marian's name to PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) New Orleans or to the organization of your choice.
