Marian J. TeGrotenhuis, 90, of Oostburg, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.Marian was born on August 20, 1926, in the Town of Holland, daughter of Abram and Tannie (VanEss) Smies. She attended Lakeview Grade School in the Town of Holland. On July 4, 1949, she married Wayne O. TeGrotenhuis in the Town of Holland. Wayne passed away on April 26, 2014. Marian was employed with Larson Canning Factory and Musebeck Show Co., both in Cedar Grove.Marian was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, where she was active as a Bible class teacher and in the choir. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.Marian is survived by one daughter, Carol (Gary) Hesselink of Oostburg; three sons, David (Pam) TeGrotenhuis of Cedar Grove, John (Barbara) TeGrotenhuis of Cedar Grove, and Mark (Pam) TeGrotenhuis of Oostburg; ten grandchildren, Eric (Kristen) Hesselink, Tannie (Tyler) Holschbach, Jenna (Wes) Thompson, Rochelle (Mathew) Schueller, Donelle (Felma) Degefa, Nicole (Austin) Montanez, Stacy TeGrotenhuis, Kevin TeGrotenhuis, Aaron TeGrotenhuis and Jill (Chris) Suess; 21 great grandchildren; one brother, Abe (Gwen) Smies of Oostburg; two sisters-in-law, Jean Smies of Oostburg and Lillian TeGrotenhuis of Cedar Grove.Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Wayne, her parents, her brother, Daniel Smies, her two brothers-in-law Willard (Hazel) Grotenhuis, and Milford TeGrotenhuis, and one sister-in-law Eileen (Carl) Lenz.A funeral service to celebrate Marian's life will be held at 10am on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove with Rev. David Cornette officiating. Burial will take place at Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends may gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and again on Friday at church from 9am until the time of service at 10am.
