Marie Lindsey Ritz, 90, of Granite Quarry, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem, surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Ernest Leon Ritz, whom she married on Nov. 2, 1941. Marie was born on Feb. 14, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Hubert Lawson and Margaret (Blanton) Lindsey. She grew up in Louisville, Ky. She moved to Charleston, W.Va. where she attended and graduated from nursing school and worked as a surgical nurse. Later in life, she moved to Florida with her husband where they spent the majority of their retirement. Marie was a member of First Baptist Church in Salisbury and was a life-long follower of Jesus Christ since the age of 5. Her faith was very important to her and she worked for the church in one way or another throughout her life. Marie was a mother of seven children and family was one of the most treasured parts of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,three brothers, one sister and one son-in-law. Marie is survived by four sons, Larry Ritz and wife Sue of Lexington, William Ritz and wife Sandra of Girard, Ohio, Ronnie Ritz and wife Nancy of Niles, Ohio and Roger Ritz of Roanoke, Va.; three daughters, Pamela Folden and husband Harry of Charleston, W.Va., Tanya Moore and husband Huber of Salisbury and Sandra Bruce of Rockwell; one sister, Norma Jean Ingalls of Napa, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation & Service: A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. A service will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Lance officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Salisbury National Cemetery.
