Marilyn Alice Barone Wagamon died unexpectedly on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at her Lansing home. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas Willoughby Wagamon; and her son, Robert Barone Wagamon, and his family, Lauren Harman, and children Lauryn and Jack, and her other son, Dylan Thomas Barone Wagamon, and his family, Carey Wagamon and daughters, Reese, Hudsyn and Ellie. Also surviving are her mother, Alice Barone; her brother, Michael Barone; her sister, Patricia Barone; niece, Alice Overland; and her nephew, Patrick Overland.Marilyn was born on Feb. 17, 1947 to her loving parents, C. Gerald Barone and Alice Barone in Highland Park, Ill. and raised in Detroit and Birmingham. She earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts and Masters in Counseling at the University of Michigan. She taught art to Middle School students beginning in 1968 in Flint and later taught middle school students and counseled elementary and high school students in the Waverly School District for many years until her retirement in 2003. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, many friends, and the community that she so unselfishly served. Her generous, patient, and kind actions and sympathetic and understanding spirit enhanced the lives of all she encountered in small to life-saving ways.A gathering to honor her life will be held on Sunday, April 7 at the Lexington Lansing Hotel starting at noon.
