Marilyn FAULKNER Obituary

Aug 23, 1955 - Jan 24, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
FAULKNER, MarilynMarilyn Margo Theresa Faulkner (nee Webster) of Ottawa died suddenly and unexpectedly in Costa Rica on the evening of January 24, 2017 at the age of 61. She was born on August 22, 1955 in Chandler, Quebec to Ronald and Inez Webster (deceased) but spent most of her life in Ottawa.Partnered for life and love at the age of 13 to Sean Michael, Marilyn was the proud and loving mother and best friend of Jessica (Lucas), Laura and Seamus. She leaves behind her loving sister JoAnne (Ron Berry) and brothers Bill and Bryan (Denise) as well as extended family members from the Webster, Laracey, Faulkner, McGaw, Twomey, Trumbley, Breslin and Paluch families in Canada, Ireland and Poland who are too numerous to mention, but all of whom she loved and who loved her. Marilyn had a love of travel, especially when that travel was with family. She went on trips with the children to New York, Victoria, Cuba, Warsaw, Cracow, Letterkenny, Dublin and Hamburg. She saw Paris, London, Rome, Turin, Milan, Toulouse and Barcelona. She bought art in Moscow, drank Guinness (albeit reluctantly) at the North Pole in Buncrana, had dinner at the top of the Eiffel Tower, watched the shuttle launch Canadarm 2 with Warren Beatty and Annette Benning, and ate lobster in the sun in Cinque Terre. She took a dilapidated truck on a trek across Canada, backpacked in the Costa Rican rain forest, helped roof a refugee children's school in Chiang Mai and spent her 37th wedding anniversary in a Thai mountain village at the home of Karen friends. With three kids under the age of 5 in tow, she moved for a year to Australia for Michael's work; without question, complaint or a moment's hesitation.Marilyn was blessed to have many loving friends; from Ecuador to Thailand, Moscow to Australia, Ireland to Wellington West. If you had an opportunity to spend time with Marilyn, you understand why so many loved her. She was kind, open, interested and fun to be with. If you had the opportunity to work with her, you saw her vision, creativity, commitment and work ethic. This talent was embodied in the wonderful home she built along the Ottawa River and the perfect renovation she undertook of her condo in Mechanicsville. She had taste, style and beauty. If you had the privilege of living with her, you had the opportunity to see how greatly she cared, how forgiving of fault she was and how strongly and deeply she could love. There are no words that adequately describe the shock, sorrow and loss we feel. There are no words that adequately express our appreciation for those who were there at the moment of her passing and provided support in the immediate days that followed; and for those that have supported us since. In lieu of flowers, Marilyn would request a donation to a charitable organization that she spent years supporting for a dear friend who also suffered a tragic loss: KLEO (Karen Learning and Education Organization) and Jen's House in Chiang Mai, Thailand. (http://www.kleosupportgroup.org) Marilyn's service will be a private family ceremony. A moment of pause at 1100 hours on Saturday by all those that knew her and loved her would be much appreciated. She loved you all. When our pain subsides, we will organize a celebration of her life.
