Marilyn Graves RoseMemphis, TNMarilyn Graves Rose, 89, of Houston TX (formerly of Memphis, TN) passed away on January 20, 2017. She was born on August 1, 1927 in Medina, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Flora James and Thomas Edward Graves; step-mother, Clara Ruth Simpson Graves; brothers, John Thomas (J.T.) Graves and Robert Guy Graves; and sisters, Maddie Sue Graves Hill and Elizabeth Graves Day. She was the wife of Vernon Somervell Rose for 21 years until he preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by her two sons Edward Lewis (Linda) of Wimauma, FL and Don Lewis (Leslie) of Spring, TX; brother, Harold Graves (Sheila) of Medina, TN; and her four grandchildren: Amy Browning (Jeff), Kevin Lewis, Allison Alford (Curtis) and Kristin Crouch (John). She is also survived by five great grandchildren: Madison Carver, Wayne Ayers, Brooklyn Alford, Colson Alford and John Crouch. Marilyn worked for many years as a waitress, dry cleaning clerk, wife and mother to ensure her boys had a loving and quality childhood. She was loved by many who affectionately called her "Rose." She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church but had not attended there for several years necessitated by her sudden move to Texas due to her declining health. She will be greatly missed but is now secure in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Family will receive guests Wednesday at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. from 9 am until service begins at 10 am. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Humboldt, TN.
