Marilyn Eleanor HavelkaCOSHOCTON: Marilyn Eleanor (Hays) Havelka, 92, of Coshocton died on Friday, October 14, 2016. Marilyn was born on June 19, 1924 in Bellaire to the late Wenzel and Velma (McNabb) Hays. After he returned as a marine from the Pacific in WWII, Alfred "Tater" Havelka married Marilyn on May 29, 1945. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2010. For over 40 years, Marilyn worked for the Stone and Thomas Department Stores. Much of that time was spent working as the Sportswear Buyer for all 17 stores in the chain. During WWII, after she married Tater, they lived in Washington, DC while he was stationed there. During that time she worked for the American Red Cross. When they moved to Coshocton, Marilyn became a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Stephen Ministry, and the Coshocton Canal Quilters. Marilyn enjoyed weekly afternoon gatherings with friends from church. She loved sewing and quilting. She also loved making cream puffs for friends and for events at church. She received superb care by all of the staff at Signature Healthcare in Coshocton. Marilyn is survived by her son, Thomas (Sue) Havelka, her grandchildren, Havelah Havelka of Charlotte, NC and Trevor (Nicole) Havelka of Wilmington, NC, and her great-grandchildren, Zedica and Tarin Havelka of Wilmington, NC.Calling hours for Marilyn will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Mark Brodbeck and Reverend Keith Peachey officiating.
