Marilyn Maughan CapenerSalt Lake City - Marilyn Maughan Capener was born on July 14, 1935 in Santa Maria, Calif. and passed away on Nov. 16, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah from the effects of Parkinson's Disease.Marilyn spent her early childhood in California, but most of her school years were spent in Soda Springs, Idaho. She attended BYU, and then left when she married William A. Hogan. Later she married Richard L. Capener.Marilyn was a wonderful cook and talented artist, seamstress and knitter. She took great pride in her apple trees and loved sharing the fruit with others. She was a dedicated Avon Lady for over 32 years and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors as she sold them Avon products. She also worked at the University of Utah Hospital and for the LDS Church.Marilyn loved teaching Gospel Doctrine in her LDS ward, and valued her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She is survived by her six children, Kris (Mike) Monson of Smithfield, Utah, Tammy (Robert) Neslen of Holladay, Dan (Jen) Capener, China, Mike Capener of Salt Lake City, David (Shelley) Capener of Waldwick NJ, Heather (Rej) Hintze of Cottonwood Heights. She leaves behind 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.Special thanks go to Inspiration Hospice who cared for Marilyn for over seven months and provided loving assistance to the family.A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at the LDS chapel located at 2925 East 7800 South from 10 to 10:45 a.m., after which the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery.
