We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Mario Badillo, who was born on September 22, 1964, and passed away on May 6, 2024, at his home in Lubbock, Texas, United States. He was the son of Trinidad and Juanita Badillo and was known for his loving nature and kind heart.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mario Badillo, 60, of Lubbock, will be at 10:00 a.m. on May 11, 2024, at Mission San Jose Catholic Church, with Father Jerry Kenny officiating. His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8, at Sunset North Funeral Home Chapel starting at 6:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Mario was a devoted husband to Thelma Martinez Badillo, whom he married on July 2, 1988, and a loving father to his two sons, Mario E. Badillo and Alejandro E. Badillo. He was a proud graduate of Dunbar-Struggs High School, class of 1983, and went on to work at T&M Painting and helped in the Knights of Columbus organization.
Mario was preceded in death by his father, Trinidad, and brother Tomas.
Outside of his professional life, Mario had a passion for fishing, bowling, baseball, and football. He brought joy to all those around him with his sense of humor and warm personality.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 42 years. Thelma Badillo of Brownsville, sons Mario E. Badillo and Alejandro E. Badillo of San Antonio; his mother Juanita Badillo of Lubbock; sisters Maria Iruegas of Lubbock and Hilda Torres (Jesus); 7 nieces and nephews and 8 grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
Mario passed away at his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.
