Marion Murphy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother/great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 94.
She was born on May 3, 1929, to Peter and Alice (Eggleston) Erickson. Marion grew up in the town of Morris. She graduated from Bowler High School in 1947 and then earned her teaching certificate.
Marion married the love of her life, Francis (Frank) Murphy, in 1950. They made their home in Tigerton WI and together they raised three children. She later continued her education at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, earning her degree in elementary education in 1966. Marion dedicated her career to educating young minds and building a foundation for the future as an Elementary School Teacher with the Tigerton School District, retiring in 1989.
Marion was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of her first great-great-granddaughter.
Marion and Frank were snowbirds, spending summers in Tigerton WI and winters in Dundee FL. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton WI and Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Haines City FL. Marion was a faithful servant, giving many hours to church activities.
In addition to her career, Marion was actively involved in her community, lending her time and talents to organizations such as the Tigerton Main Street, Tigerton Advancement Association and church organizations.
Marion had a wide range of hobbies that brought her joy, including sewing, card club, ceramics, cake decorating, quilting, winemaking, knitting, bowling, and golfing. She enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. She was proud of being a Packer Shareholder.
Survivors include three children: Susan Redman, Manassas VA, Kevin (Belinda) Murphy, Auburndale FL, Janel (Scott) Doede, Wausau WI and son-in-law David Redman, Tigerton WI. Grandchildren: Elliot (Elena Sidorenko) Redman, Cambridge WI, Kyle (Nicole) Redman, Simi Valley CA, Matt (Whitney) Murphy, Auburndale FL, Malia Murphy, Auburndale FL. Great grandchildren: Derek (Riley) Hoffman, Anthony and Andrew Peterson, Riley Murphy, Lyla Toler, Silas Murphy, and Keaton Redman. Marion is also survived by her beloved dog and companion Jordy.
Marion will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family, friends and students. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 2, at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Tigerton. Family and friends may call at 12:30 pm until the time of service. Internment will be in the Tigerton Union Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be given to Tigerton Elementary School, Tigerton Main Street, Zion Lutheran Church or Lamb of God Lutheran Church.
