Marion Parker 1917—2016Marion Parker, age 98 of Stockton, IL, died January 27, 2016 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was born on April 23, 1917 to Fred and Eda (Hartsough) Scace, she was the last to be born on the Scace family homestead in Warren. On May 18, 1940, she married Rex Parker in the Grandview Methodist Church in Dubuque Iowa. After several years living in Rockford, the couple spent their entire life in Stockton. Rex preceded her in death on March 7, 1998. She graduated from Warren High School in the class of 1935 and Platteville Normal School (now the U of W at Platteville.) She taught in Equal Rights, Pucket and Kent Country schools, as well as the Stockton School district, and she retired from the Warren School District. She also was an assistant librarian at Highland Community College. She was a member of the Stockton Woman's Club, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and the Stockton Universalist Church (now the Unitarian Universalist Church of Stockton,) where she served as a Sunday School Superintendant and sang in the choir. She is survived by her son, Dennis Parker (Betty Woodburn); daughter, Melody Heidenreich; 5 grandchildren: Todd Heidenreich, Derick Parker, Angela Heidenreich, Leann (Brian) Fischer, and Rachel Wilcox, as well as eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Hugh; and her siblings, Marlow, LeRoy and Helen Scace, and Aileen (Kenneth) Kerlin. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6th at 11:00 am at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton with visitation beginning at 9:30 am.
